BONHAMS SCOTTSDALE 2020
OUR CORNUCOPIA of Scottsdale auction coverage from January nears its conclusion in this issue, which features high-horsepower highlights from the annual Bonhams sale, held at the Westin Kier-land Resort & Spa. This event, like most other Bonhams motor car sales we’ve attended, has a tradition of being a one-day affair following multiple preview days. This year’s — held on January 16 — was no different. The catalog featured 108 vehicles from all corners of the industry, ranging from a 1901 Winton 8-hp Runabout to a 2009 Ford Mustang Iacocca 45th Anniversary Edition, the latter being one of 17 American-made muscle cars that crossed the block.
In typical fashion, several of Europe’s finest exotic cars were highlighted in Bonhams lineup for this event, thus it was no surprise to see one race to the top of the sales list: a 1951 Ferrari 212 Inter Cabriolet, featuring coachwork by Vignale, which realized $1,930,000. It would prove to be the only seven-figure transaction, and the Prancing Horse was followed on the list by the $810,000 sale of a 1955 Lancia Aurelia B24S Spider America.
