Hōhepa Hei (Te Whakatāhea, Te Whānau-ā-Apanui, Ngāti Porou, Te Aitanga-ā-Hauiti, Te Aitanga-ā-Mahaki) is a kaiako at Te Wharekura o Maniapoto in Te Kāiti in the heart of Ngāti Maniapoto. Hāhepa discusses a number of initiatives that have been developed over the past seven years to support learning programmes for tauira (students) at the wharekura (kura kaupapa Māori secondary school), where the hands-on curriculum is based primarily on the kaupapa of kaitiakitanga.
