CIRCLE OF LIFE
Taking the bundle in my arms, everything suddenly made sense to me.
‘She’s absolutely perfect,’ I cooed.
‘She’s an angel,’ my husband, Zain, 37, said.
Fatima was our first baby and luckily the pregnancy had gone smoothly – and the birth had been quite straight forward, too.
She was born in June 2013, weighing 7lbs exactly.
For the first six months, life with my newborn was dreamy.
But when we began to wean Fatima off breast milk, she would vomit and could barely hold anything down.
She was about six-monthsold and to begin with, she seemed fine, but then suddenly she threw everything up, so we were convinced it was a bug.
As a first-time mum, I didn’t really know any different.
However, after a few weeks, my mum, Ayesha, who is sadly no longer with us, was sure something was wrong.
‘Bug’s don’t go on this long,’ she warned.
