p to around half a million people around the world are still tuning in to the ongoing, by former person of the year Leo Goolden and volunteers. There has never been a restoration that has captured the imagination of so many as this one has, and part of the appeal lies in the quality of videography. During the summer, Leo and friends tackled the restoration of the transom (which turns out to be salvageable thanks to its teak build), and the casting of bronze floors. Flying wood chips, molten metal, power tools at work – it’s all here. The ‘basket’ (frames, deck, keel and timbers, and transom) is now all in place. is beginning once more to look like the that won the 1927 Fastnet.
