A NEW ILLUSTRIOUS ARRIVES

Illustrious’s later years lacked something of the glamour of her wartime career, being largely occupied with trials and training duties. She participated in the Coronation Fleet Review in June 1953 but was retired from operational service the following year. After a brief period in reserve, she was sold for scrapping in November 1956.
