Journey’s end
I ended a progress report feature in the May ’11 issue by saying, “This is one British custom we’re really looking forward to seeing on the road.” Well, the car’s owner, Tony Pigram, kept that carrot dangling a lot longer than we anticipated, but the end result justifies the wait.
We re-visited the scene of the crime in the April ’16 issue, by which time the car was in paint, and then pictured it at its first public showing at the Vintage Nostalgia Festival near Salisbury in the November ’18 issue. It still wasn’t finished, though, but it is now.
We will come back to the car’s evolution, but first allow Tony to take us on a journey.
“Since being a small kid, I always had a fascination for cars. Not ordinary ones, though, they had to have a little bit extra. My parents took me to Santa Pod and I really became hooked. That special day introduced me to cars I never knew existed, and I was happy as a pig in ‘mud’.”
