It’s a family affair!

The Yamaha RD 350LC might be the all-time love of my life, however, for many reasons I also have a lasting affection for the little Honda TL125S. It may be a humble and even insignificant motorcycle, but still one that played a huge part in my life pre-racing.

I’ll start from the very beginning. There’s a tradition in Scotland when new babies arrive, on their first encounter with friends and relatives, said child is furnished with some cash. If it is christened more money comes, so depending on how honorable the parents are, an ‘in trust’ bank account is normally opened for the wee bairn. Fortunately my parents did the decent thing and at an early age I was made aware of this bank book in the hope it would encourage me to save.

And it worked. I loved to see this money build up as I squirreled away birthday and Christmas donations over the years. I was once caught ironing £1 notes so they would fit neatly into the book
