AMPHIBIOUS UNDERCARRIAGE
The undercarriage allowed the Walrus to be used on land or aircraft carriers, and folded up into the lower wing when operating as a flying boat.
MAIN ACCESS
Entry and exit to the aircraft while at sea was through the cockpit roof, so no potentially leaky fuselage doors were needed.
