Those who carry a laptop on board can boost marina wi-fi hotspot reception simply by connecting an external, hi-gain, range extending antenna. These are usually a fairly tall pole aerial with amplification circuitry built into their base and a long cable that terminates in either a USB or Ethernet plug that you connect to the relevant port on your device or router.
Plugging it into a laptop will override its internal wi-fi card and software supplied with the antenna will enable you to set it up to monitor the signal strength of surrounding hotspots and to lock onto your preferred one.
