First impressions

FIRST impressions count. As soon as the brand new ‘OO’ gauge BBA from Cavalex Models was taken from its box, it was immediately clear the company has neatly side-stepped the curse that affects so many rock bands and (potentially) emerging model companies – great first release, but… you get the picture.

The BBA bogie steel carrier had the potential for being underwhelming because of the nature of the prototype – essentially a flat wagon with most of its fittings hidden away under the deck behind deep solebars.

However, the finesse applied to the design of the deck and its relation to the underframe together with particular attention paid to the detailing of the FBT6 bogies has given
