What is your history with Ford?

I grew up about ten miles away from Ford’s Dunton R&D centre. I was just a kid when a Fiat 127, with a Fiesta nose grafted on, drove past – that prototype made such an impression on me.

After that all I wanted to do was to design and engineer Fords. I started as a trainee and joined full-time as a Product Designer in the early ’80s. I got to know the SVE guys; Rod
