SADDLE-BILLED STORKS River Royalty

“There would likely be some debate among bird lovers as to ‘who rules the Kruger’s rivers’?”

Many would say this title belongs to the fish-eagle, but others would argue in favour of the majestic saddle-billed stork. The fish eagle, with its wild, ringing characteristic calls and brash attitude, is an obvious candidate, but the tall, elegant and noble saddle-bill stork is equally impressive.

Standing 150cm tall with striking black and white plumage and a brightly coloured bill, it is . With its long red and black legs, it is probably the tallest of our storks, but not the heaviest, as marabous weigh slightly more.
