Living the dream
Line the bike up. Squeeze the brakes. Bounce on the pedals. Three deep breaths then start cranking... As I dropped in to jump Whistler’s infamous ‘train gap’, the nervousness I felt wasn’t dissimilar to the feeling I’d got stepping onto the plane to fly out to Canada. But looking back, I was definitely more scared getting on that flight! I was heading out to Whistler to live out my dream, ride as much as possible and do what was needed to get by, and with no idea what lay in store, I was more than a little apprehensive.
Shore thing
Ten hours later I disembarked in Vancouver. Tired and jetlagged, the main thing I remember was looking out the window on the runway and seeing the iconic North Shore mountains. I had a week in the city to start my trip, and of course I couldn’t ignore the draw of the North Shore. Having a larger than usual appetite for ‘type two’ fun, I set off early one morning to pedal there across the city on my YT Capra enduro bike.
