AMAZULU

EXPECTATIONS: There was no doubt from many observers th it would be another difficult season for Usuthu, who had not finished inside the top eight since 2011/12. They started the campaign with Cavin Johnson as coach, but failed to fix the problems of the season before, where a leaky defence was the third worst in the 2018-19 campaign.

REALITY: Johnson was axed five games in and replaced by Jozef Vukuši?, before he too was essentially sacked in early March when he was suspended and replaced by rookie Ayanda Dlamini. They only escaped on the final day, but under Dlamini lost just one of their last seven games in a marked improvement in form.

STAR PLAYER IN 2019/20: Bongi Ntuli (29 starts, one sub appearance, 13 goals) MARK: 4/10
