HIDDEN DANGER

Marsh fritillary caterpillars seem safe from the obvious. These will emerge from the bodies of the caterpillars as they themselves emerge to feed in the spring. It’s worth noting that the parasitoid, which depends entirely on this one butterfly species, is just as rare as its host.
