CRASH DESTROYS FOOTBALL TEAM

A disaster shocked the world of sport when a plane carrying a triumphant Manchester United crashed in Munich on 6 February 1958.

The team were in high spirits returning from a European Cup match in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, where they had qualified for the semi-finals. They were known as ‘Busby’s Babes’ after their manager Matt Busby and in reference to their comparative youth.
