When Jon and Ali Goodwin chose to self-build their first ‘real’ home on Herefordshire farmland, the project got off to a rather daunting start. Almost 18 months of planning and committee meetings (see page 37 for that story) would put even the most tenacious self-builder off the task, but for the Goodwins, their dream of expanding Jon’s family farm and creating a new farmhouse for their young family was too enticing to give up.
