Jade, what led you down the architecture path? I think my interest really started through growing up in a timber house designed and built by my dad. My grandfather on my dad’s side was a design draughtsman for infrastructure projects such as bridges and dams, so that had an influence too. And I was also interested in whakairo [carving] and rāranga [weaving]; I really didn’t know much about these artforms at that time, but it was something that always featured in family photos and books we
