“I was usually the peacemaker”

Chris Hillman has helped pass the time by playing Trivial Pursuit with his former colleague in The Byrds, Roger McGuinn. “There are a few couples who play every Friday, across the country on Zoom,” Hillman explains. “What are the old Byrds doing now? They’re playing trivia! At least we haven’t all started playing bridge yet.”
It was during one of these trivia evenings that McGuinn asked Hillman how many different bands he’d passed through. After thinking for a moment, he realised it was aswas the problem!’ They kept putting me in there, then I’d leave. Looking back though, I was usually the peacemaker. That was my assigned role in my various bands.”
