he Sylva Foundation, just eight miles south of the centre of Oxford, might best be described to one who doesn’t know it as a ‘craft co-operative’. Here gather the (mostly) young, cashed-strapped artisans to launch their careers making furniture, musical instruments, wooden skis and more. It is also now home to Thames boatbuilder Colin Henwood, who has been enthusing about his new workplace for the three years he has been there.
