The extraordinary landscape of the Brecon Beacons is said to have inspired Tolkien’s – and it’s easy to see why, with spectacular mountains, ancient woodlands, hidden waterfalls, caves and gorges galore. Here you’ll find some of the UK’s rarest wildlife, including otters, great crested newts and reed warblers. By night, it’s a Dark Sky Reserve for stargazers.
