It has taken violent protests to remind a 52-year-old company of a government initiative called Proudly South African, which was launched 22 years ago. The campaign’s main aim is to increase demand for South African goods to help stimulate economic growth and create jobs.
The EFF protests against the racist TRESemmé hair product advert saw various Clicks stores closed and some vandalised. It forced Clicks’ management to meet with the red berets at the party’s offices in Johannesburg, where a deal was brokered.
