Rose-tinted memories
I ENJOYED the charming piece on pressing flowers (), but urge caution to anyone planning to do so between the pages of a book. As a romantic adolescent, I placed a rose given to me by a young suitor between the pages of what turned out to be a rather rare edition in my parents’ library. Imagine my horror upon opening it to discover that the bloom had gone rotten, the resulting mould ‘eating’ large holes in several pages
