he jazzy number was introduced by Fred Astaire in the 1937 film and gained huge success. With music by George Gershwin: The interpretation on the album might sound a little ‘straight’. We suggest allowing for more rhythmic liberty – i.e. for swing-style quavers, which will make for a more syncopated interpretation. (In swing style, the beat is divided into two, but unevenly, reflecting an underlying triplet feel. Downbeats are 2/3 of a beat in length while upbeats are only 1/3 of a beat in length.) Do experiment and play around with the rhythm while you are securing the notes.
