This August, Manchester City made the shock announcement that sent ripples throughout the footballing world, signing United States Women’s National Team midfielder Rose LaVelle from the National Women’s Soccer League. That move coupled with City’s addition of her USWNT teammate Samantha Mewis and Manchester United’s pursuit of Tobin Heath and Christen Press has shaken the status quo within women’s club football and perhaps given an indication as to what lies ahead as the game continues to grow outside of the U.S.
