Coming of Age
THERE WAS AN OBVIOUS VOID IN THE Mahindra line-up during the early part of this century with the discontinuation of the MM 540 and MM 550, descendants of the CL340 ‘Classic’, which, in turn, was derived from the Willys CJ3A Jeep that Mahindra were licensed to build and sell in India back in 1949. Although focusing on more road-friendly SUVs during this time, the brand went back to its off-roading roots with the introduction of the Thar in 2010, bringing back the iconic design form and bare-bones, three-door SUV layout that we have known since childhood.
The Thar saw a couple of updates over the last decade, and 2020 brings us an all-new version of this enduring 4x4, with a reworked design, modern features, powerful engine options, and a host of creature comforts never before
