SECRET GARDEN
POINT OF VIEW
Harnessing the spectacular views of Cape Town’s Table Mountain was a priority when homeowners Victoria and Pete started renovating their family home. Victoria and her son Joseph hang out in the open-plan kitchen and dining area (above) with views out to the courtyard and mountain. “We spend a lot of time here; it’s where Pete and I catch up at the end of the day while Joseph doodles or builds Lego,” says Victoria.
Clean lines and natural materials are key in this space, with a custom-made oak island taking centre stage. The paper pendant above is one of Victoria’s favourite buys, from a local Chinese shop. Above the original Eames LCW chair is a painting that Victoria inherited from her great grandmother.
ENTRANCE
Gently marrying the old parts of the house with the new has been expertly realised thanks to a neutral palette and the introduction of texture and modern materials. Here, Corinthian columns blend seamlessly with the rest of the exterior and interior. The Hans by Rosie Mudge.
