IT HAPPENED without warning. One morning she woke up and realised she’d stopped smiling and her lust for life had vanished.

“I was burnt out. Finished. I’d fallen out of love with life,” Michelle Botes explains.

She suddenly felt smothered by Johannesburg – the city that had given her so much joy for so many years. And she couldn’t figure out why. After all, she had everything she’d dreamt of: a successful career, a beautiful flat, two perfect children.
