Set in his universe, Joe Abercrombie’s trilogy explores what happens when industrialisation hits the world of The Union. Book two is imminent: (15 September, Gollancz). We called first instalment “one of Abercrombie’s best yet”. And there’s more of MR Carey’s , set in a postapocalyptic Yorkshire where trees have become deadly predators. In (17 September, Orbit) restless teen Koli heads for London in search of precious old-times tech. We said of book one, “if Netflix have any sense, they’ll snap up the TV rights very soon.”
