Beat / It‘s remarkable how many techno-DJs were into hip-hop in their youth. You were one of them, it appears.

Till von Sein/ I was into rapping in my early teens. One of the main problems was that I needed to rely on a DJ. Which in the days of heavy weed smoking was always an issue as you can imagine. So my main motivation was being independent. I started in 1996 when I finally had saved up some money to buy two Technics 1210s and an Ecler mixer. Two weeks into having them at home I realized that mixing all those records I copped over the last years was way more fun than being home alone, rapping in front of my mirror.

Beat / Rap captured the Zeitgeist like no other genre at the time. It probably still does. Is that what attracted you to it?
