The Cwm Uchaf Horseshoe | Snowdon

Two things make a rock route really special: purity of line and lots of exposure. This circuit of Cwm Uchaf has both in spades. Continuous interest is maintained by climbing up the Grade 2 / 3 Clogwyn y Person arête, teetering along the classic main section of the Crib Goch ridge, and descending via Crib Goch’s north ridge. It is an exhilarating, challenging and lesser-known take on one of the UK’s most popular scrambles.

The day began in Nant Peris car park where we’d masked up and caught the Sherpa Bus. We happily broke ranks with the Snowdon-bound walkers as the bus driver dropped us off at the lay-by below
