Win some, lose some
Last time I reached the effective hands-on start point of the project, once the process of UK registration had been successfully completed. As I’d shown previously the structural condition of the car was excellent, which is paramount, but I think even if there were some previous owner bruises the cosmetic condition, with surface rust and no paint, would put many off.
The cabin was in complete contrast: red leather seating and general interior trim in superb condition. Indeed, with a light clean and buff up, that red leather was positively glowing so it is certainly not going to need any work, just some care during the rest of the rebuild. The steering wheel, having lost two of the four sets of spokes, needed replacement but the consequent flexibility makes entry and exit very easy. Frustratingly, when the replacement wheel was fitted, watching me struggle to get in and out was a comedy show. I’ve put that down to the wheel being on the wrong side and it will be quite different when we move it over! However, being a realist, I am exploring the option
