Inspiring women in sailing

Gender imbalance has long existed across all areas of sailing; take a glance about you, it’s not hard to miss. Now, a Strategic Review into Women in Sailing by the World Sailing Trust has gathered irrefutable data to back up anecdotal evidence, gathered from over 4,500 respondents – male and female – from 75 countries. They ranged from ages 11-83, and were involved with all aspects of the sport, from dinghies to keelboats, sailors to volunteers to official representatives.

The report was underwritten by Andrew Pindar, a long-standing and passionate supporter of sailing, who felt the need to galvanise action after attending a seminar on women’s sailing at the 2018 World Sailing Annual Conference. The session had been side-lined and
