AT NEARLY 300 SQUARE MILES, Louisiana’s Toledo Bend Reservoir is the largest in the South and the fifth largest in the country, stretching for some 70 miles along the Texas/Louisiana border. Clyde and I arrived on a late-June evening last summer, having already secured both a flat-bottom boat rental and one of the park’s 55 campsites.
