Best Western

LOCATED IN THE Old Town section of Scottsdale, Ariz., Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West (SMoW) was founded in 2015 and is now a Smithsonian Affiliate organization. Its goal is to help museum-goers “see the West from a whole new perspective,” and to that end it has been mounting a series of special exhibitions. The latest in this series showcases the collection of Western art enthusiast Gilbert Waldman, a resident of the Phoenix–Scottsdale area and a founding member of SMoW’s board of trustees.

“By Beauty Possessed: Gilbert Waldman Collects the West” runs through August 23 in the museum’s Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust
