Rebuilding the Discovery 3’s sills

WE left off last month with James Holmes cutting the rot out of the Discovery 3’s right-hand side sill. Anything remaining structure that was remotely crusty was then rubbed back to solid, clean metal, and the whole area prepped with weld-through primer. Part one of this story was about taking metal out, part two is about putting metal in. Here, Machinor’s Stuart Jay takes us through making accurate copies of the factory panels, then working to get a close fit on the car.

Since last month, I’ve traced the available genuine parts for Disco 3. The outer sills, and inner sills are indeed listed, but I can only find reference and pricing for the outers, at around £700 per side.

I cannot find the inners listed in the UK. It
