here was no change to the information recorded on English and Welsh marriage certificates between 1 July 1837 and 25 May 2019. The certificate is divided into three sections; the first giving details of where the marriage took place, the second recording (in eight columns) details of when the marriage took place, along with information about the groom, the bride and their fathers, and the last detailing how and by whom the ceremony was performed and recording the signatures of the groom, the bride and two or more witnesses.
