SPACE IS FUN!

‘It is super exciting to have discovered these brand new planets! They are called extra-solar planets, which means they orbit around stars that the Sun. They were discovered circling around a star 39 light-years away, called TRAPPIST-1. It is the largest number of planets found around one star, besides our own solar system. Most of them are likely to be rocky planets that are pretty close in mass to Earth. Three of these planets orbit in what astronomers call the ‘Goldilocks zone’, which is at just the right distance from the star. It is not too far away for the water on the planet to be too cold and freeze, nor too close for the water to be too hot and evaporate. This means that the planets’ surfaces could have water in liquid form and that’s always great news for us humans!
