Back in 1960, County announced the Super-4, a Fordson Super Major fitted with a new, huge front axle equipped with the same size wheels as the rear. Two propshafts transmitted power, giving superb traction with the added benefit of differential lock on all four wheels.
The new tractor looked very purposeful and was soon joined by an even more powerful version, the Super-6, fitted with a Ford six-cylinder engine providing 95hp. Even at the birth of this type of tractor, the ever-increasing need for more power was making itself felt!
As Ford tractors changed over the years, most notably in 1964 with the new 6X range, so too did the County big wheelers based on them and the firm also took the opportunity to produce larger machines by fitting more and more powerful Ford sixcylinder engines.
