HB-SERIES VIVA (1966-1970)
Predating its Escort rival by a year and introducing Coke-bottle styling to the market, the secondgeneration Viva proved to be a big hit for Vauxhall, selling almost 645,000 units in just a four-year run. Entry-level HBs came with 1159cc power, but by 1968 there was the Viva 1600 – featuring uprated suspension and an 83bhp OHC engine. Handling was confident too, as the HB featured all-coil suspension with a doublewishbone set-up at the front.
