TWO OF A KIND

“It took me two years to convince Frank [Stella] to sell this piece,” says Bill Duker, as we gaze up at the colourful sculpture demanding attention on a nearly seven-metre-high wall. “It’s from a series he did in the early 1980s called the Moby Dick series. This is The Pequod and the Albatross , which he had kept for himself. I had to beg him to sell it.”

We are in Duker’s penthouse apartment in Miami Beach, which is clearly a testament to his love of art and design. Anyone who has seen his 70-metre sailing yacht – which he built at Perini Navi, cruised for two years and sold in 2018 – will notice similarities, but don’t be fooled into thinking Duker has a singular style.
