“I really wanted it to have the essence of the power of Louis Vuitton the house. It is kind of ballsy and sassy and spirited”
THE FIRST THING to know about Louis Vuitton’s latest fine jewellery collection is that it is made with everyone in mind. “If a collection is modern and really about design and proportion, and has that strength to it, it can be for anyone,” says artistic director for watches and jewellery at Louis Vuitton, Francesca Amfitheatrof, over a Zoom call from her lockdown home in Connecticut. “It is ageless, it doesn’t have a geography it doesn’t have a sex. Jewellery can be beyond that completely.”
It is a message removed from. There, it commands its own place beside other heritage jewellery houses, though its jewellery offering is relatively new in the brand’s 166-year history, having launched the category in 2004.
