It’s a two-hop journey from Britain, with flights routing to local airport Ivalo via Helsinki (from £280; ). Some connections involve a long layover in Helsinki; if you arrive at night, check into the terminal-side Glo Hotel. Its quiet, windowless, well-designed rooms are moments from the departure gates (from £120; glohotels.fi). You could also catch the overnight train from Helsinki to Rovaniemi
