Every now and then this column is allowed to indulge in a flight of fancy and this is one of them. Only a couple of issues ago I surveyed the awful period when Abingdon was closed down but it set me thinking. What if British Leyland had been ruled by logical visionaries, instead of by tycoons who thought that (a) Leyland was best and that (b) Triumph was the only sports car brand worth pursuing? Just suppose…
