DUAL-FUEL BEDFORDS

Further to your request for confirmation on the above, in the early eighties I visited Bedford’s test ground at Millbrook. We were investigating the availability of some TM 6x6s and were told that a couple did exist in the military high security test facilities within Millbrook, but were being converted for multi-fuel use and “not just petrol and diesel.” It was understood that they were probably Bedford 500 diesels and long life expectancy was not part of the brief. Unfortunately, but probably not surprisingly, we were not allowed access.

If Richard Atkin (news, June 2020 issue) is looking for a museum in North Yorkshire for his models I can recommend him to take a look at the website of the Scarborough Fair and Transport Museum.

This is a lovely museum between Scarborough and Filey which features traction engines, tractors, cars, lorries motorcycles, fairground rides, organs and wurlitzers. The museum’s website is at www.scarboroughfaircollection.com
