SHORT HISTORY, BIG STATEMENT

The 2020 racing season is due to resume in autumn, and if there’s one race Lizzie Deignan has her sights on, it’s the Tour of Flanders, currently pencilled in for October 18. “Flanders has a special place in my heart,” the Briton said affectionately in May, as she looked ahead to the targets that are keeping her motivated this year. Perhaps it’s no coincidence, then, that Deignan also has her eye on the World Championships road race when they return to Flanders in 2021, on what the UCI instantly said on announcement would be a “typical Flanders circuit”.
