Doesn’t time fly, especially when one is a historian? Here we are in 2020, and I have just realised that it is now 60 years since Standard-Triumph was entering its last full year as an independent concern, and that we did not realise this at the time. To remind you, Standard (which had been founded in 1903) had taken over the remains of the original Triumph car-manufacturing business in 1944, and the new combine had built up a prestigious operation since then.
