Being a garden designer, Judy Painter was intrigued when she was sent property details of a Victorian former gardener’s cottage on the border between Kent and Surrey. “It was around eight years ago, and both our children had left home, so my husband David and I were looking for a smaller house, but one with a decent-sized garden.”
