October round-up
awrence Leonard’s arrangement of Musorgsky’s turns it into a sort of piano concerto, but falls between the incisiveness of the original and the glamour of Ravel’s orchestral version. Bizarrely the soloist, Tamás Ungár, is uncredited in this re-released edition, although he does his best with an unrewarding task. The orchestral contribution from the Philharmonia, and come off best, but the B flat and to never get quite off the ground. (★★ )
