Bricks and mortar

Roman homes varied from single-roomed apartments to multi-chambered mansions.

The classic house – the rectangular, – was made of bricks and mortar with a tiled roof. Typical spaces in larger homes included the entrance hall (), anteroom/study (), bedrooms (), the dining room () and the garden ().
